Faculty Spotlight

Congratulations, Dr. Lauer!

Assistant Professor Adrienne Lauer, Ed.D., QTR/L recently received a $12,813 Quality of Life grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. The award was one of 74 grants totaling almost $500,000 awarded by the Reeve Foundation to nonprofit organizations nationwide that aid in providing more opportunities, access, and daily quality of life for individuals living with paralysis, their families, and caregivers. Since the program was developed in 1999 by the late Dana Reeve, over 1,800 grants have been awarded, totaling over $14.2 million.

“The Quality of Life grants program Dana envisioned twelve years ago reflects what she always believed in,” said Peter T. Wilderotter, president and CEO of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. “People living with paralysis have a right to a life with dignity and empowerment. The organizations awarded these grants provide just that to these individuals, their families, and caregivers.”

Exists for the advancement of occupational therapy and works in the public interest. It accomplishes its aims primarily through programs supporting research, education, publications, and leadership development.
Florida Board of Occupational Therapy Practice
The Board of Occupational Therapy Practice is responsible for licensing and regulating occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants who meet statutory requirements for safe practice in Florida.
Florida Occupational Therapy Association
The mission of FOTA is to serve as a collective body to support, develop and represent the occupational therapy profession for the advancement of the practice and to better serve the consumer.

Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA)
Interdisciplinary association of people with a common interest in technology and disability. Purpose is to improve the potential of people with disabilities to achieve their goals through the use of technology. Includes internal continuing education and accreditation links.
