Student Organization SERV Hours (Fall 2016):

To be eligible to participate in an SGA funding hearing, your organization must complete 30 hours of service in a semester.

Students are required to sign in on OrgSync to record their service hours on behalf of themselves or their organization using the online SERV Form

  • All SERV hours counting toward your student organization must have at least 2 members present.
  • SERV hours must be turned in within 10 days of completing the service.
  • The deadline for SERV hour submissions is November 19, 2016.

The organization’s advisor may not record hours or submit a SERV form on behalf of the organization.

Service at NSU is defined as: "Active participation in service addressing needs of the community through face-to-face and/or hands on volunteering that addresses a specific social need."

Please note that the following activities do not count as community service:

  • Tabling
  • Planning / Event Planning
  • Brainstorming

Library volunteer opportunities may include:

  • Signing people up for library cards
  • Helping at library events to encourage reading and literacy for children and adults
  • Informing the public at NSU events about the community resources available at the library
  • Assisting with story time preparation/characters
  • Working with a librarian to help increase digital literacy

For questions about submitting SERV forms, please contact NSU's Student Leadership and Civic Engagement (SLCE).
