EndNote: Attaching PDFs

The X7.2 update does remove the previous 5 GB limit for file attachments in EndNote online. It is now unlimited file attachment storage (and no limit to the number of references you can store) in EndNote online for EndNote X7 and up users who have their EndNote online account linked to EndNote X8 software on their computer.  

Attaching PDFs to references in EndNote Online

  1. Go to My References
  2. Click on the paperclip icon  next to the reference
  3. Click on Attach Files
  4. Use the Upload File Attachments box to browse for a saved PDF
  5. Locate and select the file, then click Open
  6. Select Upload
  7. Upload confirmation message will appear
  8. FIle is now attached. (paperclip changes to blue color)

Managing PDFs (delete, sort by criteria, view available storage space)

  1. Click on the Organize tab
  2. Click on Manage Attachments


Note: To check your available space, go to the Organize tab and click on Manage Attachments
