2018 Writing for the Young at Heart (YAH) Workshops

Did you know most books written for a younger audience are read by adults? Are you a fan of YA books? Do you have an exciting idea for a story? Join us for three writing workshops to jumpstart your novel! Come prepared to learn and create in workshops led by published authors and members of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.

Free and open to the public

The Power of Babble with Debbie Reed Fischer - Saturday, February 10, 2-3:30pm, 4th Floor, Room 4009 In this interactive workshop we will explore the character/dialogue connection and work on fun exercises.

How To Build A Character with Dorian Cirrone - Saturday, March 24, 2-3:30pm, 4th Floor, Room 4009 In this workshop we will cover the important components of a character and practice building a character.

Develop a Plot Clock with Joyce Sweeney  - Saturday, April 7, 2-3:30pm, 4th Floor, Room 4009 In this interactive presentation we will learn about plot clocks, how they can help us develop our stories, and practice making one of our own.
