Instructions for binding finished work and submitting for graduation.

General Info for Portfolio, Capstone, Thesis, and Dissertation Binding

 
  • Your final and approved PortfolioCapstoneThesis, or Dissertation must be submitted to the NSU Oceanographic Campus Library staff for binding before the program office will confer your degree. 
    • CapstonesTheses, and Dissertations are submitted electronically via the NSUWorks online ETD submission system: https://nsuworks.nova.edu/occ_stuetd/ .  
      • Portfolios are submitted in print to the Oceanographic Campus Library for binding. 
    • Your 30 day time clock for submission begins on the last day of the term that you are registered in.  Please note this is not business days, but includes holidays and weekends.

NSUWorks online ETD submission system for capstones, theses, and dissertations:

  • Number of Copies & Printing:
    • Printed copies required for the Center: 
      • (1) Program Office Copy  
        • Additional personal copies can be ordered by the student, as desired
    • Printing Options: Once your manuscript is approved by all your committee members in NSUWorks, printed copies must be generated to send to the bindery. 
      1. You Print = $25
        • ‚ÄčYou can print your copy/copies using your NSU SharkCard pay-for-print allocation in the NSU OC Library.  The library will provide you with the required paper, which is included in your binding costs, and send your printed manuscripts out for binding.  
          • The Pay-for-Print allocation consists of a $75 to be used only for printing or photocopying purposes across all NSU campuses. The allocation runs from July 1st of each year through June 30th of the next fiscal year. Each year on June 30th , any remaining Pay-for-Print balance not yet used will be forfeited. On July 1st of each year, all registered NSU students (non-tuition waiver) will receive a new allocation of $75
      2. We Print = $30
      • The NSU OC Library can print your manuscript copies for binding for you for an additional $5 fee per copy.  We will use the final approved copy from NSUWorks for printing and binding.  This would enable you to complete the entire process online/remotely.   
    • Binding:
      • The NSU OC Library will send out the document(s) for binding at the bindery. 
  • Signature Pages:
    • All Capstone, Thesis, and Dissertation signature pages are now submitted electronically by committee members in the NSUWorks online ETD submission system: https://nsuworks.nova.edu/occ_stuetd/
  • Formatting:
    • All submitted documents must be single sided - double sided formatting will not be accepted.
    • Keywords must be included after the abstract (required for capstones, theses, & dissertations).
    • Abstract should be single spaced. 
    • The body of the paper should be in Times New Roman, 12 point font, and 1.5 spaced
    • The left-hand margin should be set to 1.5 inches, all other margins at 1 inch
    • References should be single spaced with a hard enter or spacing between each citation (If using EndNote Cite While You Write tool in MS Word, click on the EndNote tab, Bibliography, Configure Bibliography, Layout, and then change "Space After" to single spaced). 
  • Before a Librarian can sign off on the library degree conferral portion, they will need:
    • All items in online submission system submitted:
      • NSUWorks Author Agreement form approval
      • PDF file of paper, which includes abstract and keywords
      • Payment for the binding cost (see costs on related tab/page)
    • Printed copy/copies for binding (after all committee members review and approve submission in NSUWorks)


Capstones, Theses, and Dissertations will be hardbound. 
 
Theses and Dissertations will be available digitally in NSUWorks - NSU's online Institutional Repository.
